Description
Design The central image is a fasces, a bundle of rods with a battle axe blade emerging from the side, symbolizing strength and unity. An olive branch next to it represents peace.
Inscriptions The text around the edge reads "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "ONE DIME". The national motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" (Latin for "Out of Many, One") appears to the right of the fasces.
Composition These coins were made of 90% silver and 10% copper for durability.
Value The value of a Mercury dime depends heavily on its date, mint mark, and condition. The silver melt value of a common circulated coin is currently around $3.71, but collector value can be significantly higher.
